Leading Your Life with Passion

This week, I participated in an online discussion about a topic I am deeply familiar with—and fiercely passionate about. The conversation centered on my former 15-year career. During the discussion, someone suggested that I should start a podcast to share these insights. It was a surprising, deeply resonant compliment, but it triggered a realization that went much deeper than a podcast idea.

In that moment, I realized not only the value of my accumulated knowledge but also how much I truly missed that specific work.
I have always known that my career path, whatever form it took, had to involve serving others. My original blueprint was clear: earn a degree in global business, join a non-governmental organization, and move overseas to lead humanitarian projects. Life, however, had other plans. I quickly learned that securing international roles at that time was incredibly difficult, forcing me to pivot and find a comparable mission-driven position here in the U.S.
I eventually found a role with a non-profit that felt like a perfect fit. I poured myself into it, working far more hours than I was compensated for. Looking back, I realize that it wasn't just "work"—it was an expression of my purpose. It was worth every minute. Every role I have held since has been rooted in that same drive to serve.
It is perhaps for this reason that I found such profound inner peace and a true sense of belonging during my travels to Bali. It was a reminder that when we align our path with our purpose, we don't just "work"—we thrive.
It is easy to look at a career pivot as a failure of the original plan, but I’ve learned it is actually a form of "pruning". We prune the original, rigid blueprint to make room for the life that actually aligns with our sovereignty. Are you still clinging to an outdated blueprint, or are you brave enough to pivot toward the work that makes you feel alive?
